ECHO for Homer Avila was composed on a hardware digital sampler using sound samples I made of glass bellbowls, glass harp, zither, keyboards and percussion, and performed in real time with various midi controllers. It was composed as a music interlude in a program of dance works created for Homer and premiered at the Kennedy Center in 2003. He & I also performed a piano+dance duet in this concert. Homer passed about a year after, but I will always treasure getting to know him. -Miguel Frasconi, 2020
